Anything Goes In Bristol

Updated: Apr 17, 2022

Today I've spent most of my BBC News shift at the Bristol Hippodrome filming a piece about the new touring show 'Anything Goes' by Cole Porter.

We had no time to set up the interviews or even light them so I used natural light in the theatre bar !!

The stage content was recorded in just two takes and the cast kindly came in to the theatre just for our recording.

The sold-out musical sensation, Anything Goes returns to the UK in 2022. Steaming out on UK Tour from April 2022 and returning to the Barbican by popular demand for a strictly limited 7 week season. Anything Goes is ‘musical equivalent of sipping one glass of champagne after another’ and 'The antidote to everything'.

The production for 2022 will star multi-award-winner Kerry Ellis (Wicked/We Will Rock You) as Reno Sweeney and Olivier Award Winner Denis Lawson (Bleak House/Star Wars) as Moonface Martin. Joining them is Olivier Award Winner Simon Callow (Christmas Carol/Midsomer Murders) as Elisha Whitney and West End Legend Bonnie Langford (EastEnders/9 to 5) as Evangeline Harcourt.

Reprising their co-starring roles in this year’s UK tour and Barbican season are Samuel Edwards (Les Misérables / Wicked) as Billy Crocker, Carly Mercedes Dyer (A Chorus Line/The Color Purple) as Erma (a role in which she is nominated for a WhatsOnStage Award this year), Nicole-Lily Baisden (The Book of Mormon / Let’s Face The Music) as Hope Harcourt, Haydn Oakley (A Christmas Carol / An American in Paris) as Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Further casting will be announced soon.

You can see more about the show here and see the report below.
