Farmers embrace solar power to reduce energy bills

Last week I filmed a story on the ground and in the air for BBC Points West on the increased use of solar panels in the farming community.

Working with Dave Harvey, the BBC's Business Reporter, we started filmed at the Cotswold Farm Park, owned by Countryfile star Adam Henson.

I covered the story from the ground and then put my Mini 2 drone up for some aerial shots of the solar panels on the barn roof.

We interviewed Ben Harrison from MyPower. They are a solar power firm based in the Cotswolds. They have installed 27,000 panels in the past year, up from 7,000 in the previous 12 months.

We then travelled to a farm owned by Clive Slatter, near Northleach and again I filmed from the ground and in the air.

The drone really allowed us to tell the story well at both locations. At the second farm the visibility of the panels from the ground was almost non existent.
