3am is a very unsociable time to get up but in my line of work you take the work no matter what the time of day.
I was booked to film the famous May Day celebrations in Oxford by the BBC and was also supplying my footage to ITV News. My main task was to climb the narrow steps of the Magdalen Tower, not an easy task with a large TV camera on your back, and film the Magdalen College Choir singing Hymnus Eucharisticus at the top. The hymn was composed by a former student of the college, Benjamin Rogers. I was the only member of the media at the top of the tower which was a real honour.
I was rewarded with a beautiful sunrise which made the early start all worthwhile.
Once the choir had finished I returned to street level to capture more of the festivities, record interviews with the public (All 13,000 of them) and record pieces to camera with the BBC Journalist Will Davies.
After a quick edit of the Tower footage I sent it on to ITV before returning home.
