Tonight I was called to the scene of a Police shooting in West Swindon.
Filming for BBC Points West I arrived to find a large amount of police vehicles and CSI.
At around 5pm today Police were called to a report of an armed robbery at N&B Foods which is located on the Rivermead Industrial Estate. It transpired that a lorry had been stolen.
Not far from the warehouse armed police officers attempted to stop the lorry and gave clear commands to the man driving. He was said to have a handgun and he refused their commands so Police opened fire shooting him in the leg. He is said to be of eastern European descent in his 50s.
I filmed a handgun being removed from the cab. It's not clear currently if this is real or a replica.
Two helicopters attended the scene and the man was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by Wiltshire Air Ambulance. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
A 57-plate Honda Civic was recovered from outside the N&B Foods warehouse around 10.30pm which I also captured.
As police discharged their weapons the incident was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct who are now on scene.
I covered the scene and recorded two interviews with eyewitnesses, sending the footage back quickly for the late news which can be seen below.
The lunchtime news on 17/6/20 included more footage and the gun found at the scene. See below.
